North Festival '24 - Third day

The North Festival 2024 wrapped up on May 26th at Parque de Serralves in Porto with captivating performances from Bell Marques, Claudia Leitte, and Nelly Furtado. The festival, set in a new location, brought warmth, joy, and vibrant energy to the city, delighting attendees with a blend of axé, pop, and folk influences. The event has firmly established itself as a highlight in Porto's cultural scene, with anticipation for future editions.

On May 26th, the North Festival 2024 concluded its journey at the Parque de Serralves in Porto with a night that celebrated musical diversity and contagious energy. The rain did not appear, so the conditions for a spectacular closing were perfect.

The afternoon went on with great happiness for some, who were also connected to the national sporting event, which culminated in a new trophy for Porto's football team! It was then time to pass by the food stalls area to eat and celebrate, getting ready for the final stretch of concerts at the festival.

Bell Marques

Bell Marques took the stage, bringing the warmth and joy of Bahian axé to the North Festival. Known for his work leading the band Chiclete com Banana, Bell Marques is a living legend of the Salvador Carnival and an iconic figure in Brazilian music.

With hits like "Diga Que Valeu" and "Voa Voa," his songs are synonymous with partying and celebration. On stage, Bell Marques is an explosion of energy and charisma, infecting the audience with his enthusiasm and vibrant presence. His performance ensured an exciting start to the night, with everyone dancing and singing along to his unforgettable hits. There was no shortage of dancing and concrete interactions with the audience.

Claudia Leitte

Brazilian singer Claudia Leitte, who had performed in Lisbon the night before, brought even more energy to the festival with her electrifying performance. Also hailing from Bahia, Claudia Leitte is one of the leading voices in axé and Brazilian pop, known for her ability to combine traditional rhythms with a modern twist.

Songs like "Largadinho" and "Bola de Sabão" are just some of the hits that have marked her career. On stage, Claudia is a dynamic force, with vibrant choreographies and constant interaction with the audience. Her magnetic presence and ability to turn any show into a true carnival ensured moments of euphoria.

Nelly Furtado

Closing the festival, the highly anticipated return of Nelly Furtado brought a mix of pop, folk, and Latin influences to the North Festival stage. The Canadian singer of Portuguese descent is a versatile artist who has conquered the world with her voice and established songs. This was her first concert in Portugal since a distant one in 2011.

This concert featured the presence of Portuguese singer Ana Moura. On stage, the two singers reminisced "Força," a single from the album "Folklore," released in 2004, and the anthem of the 2004 European Football Championship held in Portugal.

With global hits like "I'm Like a Bird," "Say It Right," and "Promiscuous," her career is marked by a series of successes that span different styles and cultures. On stage, Nelly Furtado displays a captivating presence and a vocal talent that was once impressive, though it was noticeable that she was not in full form. Nevertheless, her performance was a celebration of her multifaceted career, leaving the audience asking for more.

The third and final day of the North Festival 2024 at Parque de Serralves was a spectacular celebration of music and cultural diversity. The festival has established itself as a highlight event in Porto's cultural agenda, raising high expectations for future editions, with hopes for new lineups featuring big names. The new location is a very positive point, and the organization is to be congratulated for this choice.

According to the organizers, 65,000 festival-goers attended, with 86.3% being first-timers, and the economic impact was 22 million euros. A next edition is confirmed.
